Nobody makes a good napkin pocket. Get a sauce pot instead.

If you want a dedicated napkin pocket in a lunch box, you’re mostly out of luck — but for condiments, PlanetBox does it best.

Here’s the blunt truth: a real napkin pocket basically doesn’t exist in lunch box design. Napkins are flat, thin, and variable, so designers just assume you’ll tuck one under the lid or lay it on top of your food. Which, honestly, works fine. Your napkin isn’t going anywhere in there.

Condiments are a different story. PlanetBox has the best solution: the Launch and Rover models come with a small magnetic “Dipper” that snaps right into the tray for sauces and dips. It’s the only lunch box I know of where the sauce container is actually built into the system rather than being an afterthought.

If you need a physical pocket for napkins, don’t buy a box — buy a bag. Lunch bags with a front or mesh pocket (Bentology and Wildkin both make them) handle napkins easily, and you can carry your own little sauce cup. Sistema’s Bento To Go has a utensil slot on the lid that a folded napkin fits into, which is the closest thing to a dedicated napkin pocket I’ve found.

The napkin can just live on top of your sandwich. It’s not a crime.
