One sheet, two sections: daily habits + weekly milestones
The easiest way to track both daily habits and weekly milestones for a single Q1 goal is to use one spreadsheet with two clear sections.
Start with a simple table. Top half is your daily habits: columns for each day of the week, rows for each habit (e.g., “write 500 words,” “meditate 10 min”). Check them off as you go. Bottom half is your weekly milestones: one row per week, one column per milestone (e.g., “finish draft,” “submit to editor”). Use a checkbox or a simple status cell (done / in progress / not started).
That’s it. No fancy apps required Google Sheets works fine. I like putting the weekly milestones directly below the daily grid so I can see both at a glance. If you want to get fancy add a progress bar for the Q1 goal itself, but that’s optional.
The key is keeping the same document for everything. If your habits live in one app and your milestones in another you’ll stop looking at one of them within two weeks.
Don’t overthink the design. A checkbox works. A highlighter works. The ritual of checking in every day matters more than the tool.
