Pack the kit once, not every day

The way to stop forgetting utensils, napkins, and condiments is to keep a permanent essentials kit in your lunch box instead of packing them fresh each morning.

Get a small cloth pouch or a cheap pencil case. Put a fork, spoon, knife, a cloth napkin (or a stack of paper ones), and a little sealed container or a few condiment packets inside. That pouch lives in the lunch box. It never comes out — except to wash the utensils, which go right back in.

Your only daily task is putting food in the box. The kit is already there, waiting. If you use a bento-style lunch box with a dedicated compartment, use that for the kit. If not, the pouch is the next best thing.

Refresh the condiments every few days. That’s it. You separate the “prep once” from the “remember every day” problem entirely.

Future you just has to remember the food.
