Pebbled leather is tougher.
Canvas is fine for a casual bag, but pebbled leather will hold up better over years of real use. The coated canvas resists stains and scratches decently, but the edges and corners fray, and the coating can peel if it gets enough abuse. Pebbled leather hides scuffs, develops a nice patina, and can be conditioned back to life. The canvas wins on weight and ease of cleaning—wipe it down with a damp cloth—but loses on longevity. If you’re buying one bag for a decade, get the leather. If you’re rotating bags and want something light, the canvas is fine.
