Pegboards + modular cubes = the hobby storage you actually need

For small-apartment hobby clutter, wall pegboards and modular storage cubes are the most space-efficient solution.

Pegboards are for the stuff you use every session: scissors, brushes, knitting needles, pliers. Hang them where you work so you see everything at once. No digging through bins. They push your supplies into vertical space that would otherwise be wasted.

Modular cubes (the fabric or plastic ones that fit into wire grids) are for the rest: yarn skeins, paint tubes, tool sets. They stack, rearrange, and hide the mess behind a clean front. I use the IKEA Kallax knockoffs because they fit standard cubes and double as a desk or shelf.

The trick is to keep nothing in deep bins. If you can’t see it, you’ll buy it again. Pegboards and open cubes force you to be honest about what you have. You’ll donate a bag of stuff before you even hang the board.

One note: don’t overbuy pegboard accessories. Start with hooks for your most-used tools, then add as you go. The same for cubes—leave empty spaces. A dense wall
