Pink Floyd's 1994 *Division Bell* Stage Rain Curtain for "Cluster One"

During the 1994 Division Bell tour, Pink Floyd opened their shows with the instrumental “Cluster One.” To match the song’s stormy, atmospheric mood, they used a massive water curtain that descended from the lighting rig. This curtain—a thin sheet of falling water—was backlit with blue and white lights and combined with lightning flashes on the circular video screen, creating the illusion of a heavy rainstorm on stage.

The effect was achieved with a series of nozzles and a recirculating pump system, which allowed the water to fall evenly without flooding the stage. It was one of the most striking visual moments of the tour, especially because the water curtain was transparent enough to let the band remain visible behind it, yet dense enough to catch the light and evoke a real downpour.
