PlanetBox for serious separation, Bentgo for everything else
PlanetBox is the best compartmentalized lunch box for keeping foods from touching, and Bentgo is the budget pick that’s still great.
The reason PlanetBox wins is the custom dividers. They’re magnetic, so you can set up the compartments exactly how you want on a given day. Big spot for a sandwich, small circle for hummus, narrow slot for carrots — you control it. It’s stainless steel, survives being dropped, and the company backs it with a lifetime warranty. Expensive, but this is a buy-it-once thing.
If you don’t want to drop that much, get a Bentgo. The compartments are molded in, so you’re stuck with that layout, but it does the job well. It’s plastic, leak-resistant enough for normal use, and easy to wash. There’s a reason it’s the default answer for kids’ lunches and adults who just want a tidy meal.
Glass containers with dividers exist too, but they’re heavy and the lids are more likely to leak. And if you’re really in a pinch, a few silicone muffin cups in a regular lunch box turns one big container into four separate spaces. That works fine, but a real compartment box is just more pleasant to eat from.
Your sandwich and chips haven’t had a conversation in years. Keep it that way.
