PlanetBox nails removable dividers

PlanetBox is the best bento-style lunch box with removable dividers for portion control, and it’s not particularly close.

Most bento boxes cheat the concept. Yumbox has fixed compartments, Bentgo has fixed compartments, and most “removable divider” options from places like Monbento give you one flimsy wall you can slide around a little. PlanetBox actually lets you rearrange magnetic dividers into whatever section sizes you want, so you can give yourself a big salad slot and a tiny dressing cup, or split it evenly between protein, carbs, and snacks. The magnets hold snug enough that nothing shifts in your bag, but you can move them in two seconds.

It’s pricey, and it’s metal, so it’s not going to be your microwave-to-table box. But for portion control — actually controlling your portions, not just eating from a pre-molded tray — it’s the only one that truly does what it promises. If you want a cheaper plastic version, look for older ECOlunchbox models or aftermarket Bento boxes with snap-in dividers, but they’re clunkier and less precise.

At the end of the day, you’re paying for the freedom to portion like a sane person, not like a cafeteria tray. Future You deserves better than a soggy sandwich wedged against a hard-boiled egg.
