Plastic-free lunch is just a few swaps away

You can pack a totally plastic-free lunch without buying a bunch of fancy gear.

The secret is just replacing the throwaway stuff with things you wash. Skip the ziplock bags and plastic wrap. Use small glass jars, stainless steel tins, or a bento box. For snacks like cut veggies or trail mix, silicone bags are nice, but honestly, a reused jam jar works just as well.

Sandwiches? Beeswax wraps are good, but a clean cloth napkin tied around the sandwich does the job too. Throw in a fork and spoon from your kitchen drawer instead of the plastic cutlery. And if you drink from a plastic water bottle, switch to a stainless steel one already.

You don’t need to go out and stock up on matching kits. Raid your cupboards first. The point isn’t having a perfect zero-waste aesthetic—it’s just avoiding the single-use stuff you’d throw away by noon.

Future You (and the planet) will barely notice the difference, except for the lack of guilt.
