Point the box fan out the window
The easiest way to avoid the draft that makes you sick is to turn your box fan into an exhaust fan by pointing it out an open window. Instead of blowing air at you, it pulls air out of the room, creating negative pressure that draws fresh air in from other windows or doors. The result: air movement without a direct blast on your body.
