That range is the practical limit for the typical single-person lounger or raft you get at Target or Walmart. The bigger vinyl air-mattress style floats tend toward the 300 lb end; the thin $10 pool noodle rafts are closer to 200, and honestly I wouldn’t trust one with a heavy adult at all.

The bigger issue isn’t the vinyl bursting — it’s just sinking. A flat lounger floats because it displaces water, and if you weigh more than the air inside can support, you’re getting wet. Water displacement is also why two-person floats can hold a lot more: more surface area, more lift.
