Probably yes.

Older B450 BIOS versions often didn’t properly handle 16GB DDR4 sticks or 32GB total. You might get boot loops, unstable XMP, or only half the memory recognized.

The fix is easy: update the BIOS before you install the new RAM. Most B450 boards have USB flashback or can update with the old CPU and a single stick of your old RAM. It takes ten minutes and saves you an hour of troubleshooting.

Check your board’s memory QVL and BIOS changelog. If the BIOS you’re on is from 2018 or 2019, update it. The newer AGESA versions fixed a lot of memory training issues.
