Protein first, vegetables second, carbs last
Arrange your bento by putting lean protein in the biggest compartment first, then filling the next one with roasted vegetables, and only using the smallest slot for carbs if you actually need them.
The whole point of a gym-day bento is to make eating easy. You want roughly 30–40g of protein per meal, and the easiest way to hit that is to make protein the star, not an afterthought. Go with sliced chicken breast, turkey, lean beef, or a few hard-boiled eggs. If you want variety, do half meat and half eggs in the main compartment.
Roasted vegetables are your volume move. Broccoli, bell peppers, zucchini, or cauliflower tossed in oil, salt, and pepper and roasted until the edges char. They take 20 minutes, keep fine in the fridge, and give you fiber and micronutrients without wrecking your carb budget.
The small compartment is the flexible one. If it’s a heavy lifting day or you trained earlier, add a little sweet potato, rice, or fruit. If it’s a rest day or you’re cutting, leave it as avocado, olives, or nuts. Low carb doesn’t mean no carb — it means carbs don’t get top billing.
Pack it the night before, and you’ll actually eat it.
