How many storage slots are available, and what types of drives are supported?

The M90q Gen 3 has one M.2 2280 slot for PCIe Gen 4 NVMe SSDs and one 2.5-inch SATA bay for a 7mm-thick hard drive or SSD. There is no additional SATA port for external drives.
