The 2020 MacBook Air Retina locks nearly everything to the logic board

The 2020 Intel MacBook Air Retina is almost entirely sealed. The trackpad, keyboard, speakers, and logic board are all proprietary and soldered — if any of them fails, you’re looking at a full unit replacement.

The only user-serviceable component is the battery, and even that needs Apple or a professional to swap it. For a machine that’s still perfectly capable for light work, the lack of repairability is frustrating. If you’re buying one used, factor in a potential battery service cost.
