The M710q keeps it simple with USB 3.0 and a legacy port mix

The ThinkCentre M710q is from the era when USB 3.0 was still called “USB 3.0” and USB-C wasn’t on anyone’s radar. It shows.

Front panel: two USB 3.0 ports and a headphone jack — that’s it. No USB-C, no card reader. The rear is a bit more generous: two more USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 (for your keyboard and mouse), DisplayPort, HDMI, and Gigabit Ethernet.

The video output selection is the interesting part here. Having both DisplayPort and HDMI on a mini PC of this vintage was a nice touch — you could drive two monitors without needing an adapter. No Thunderbolt, no USB-C, no frills. It’s a perfectly capable office PC for its time, but you won’t mistake it for a modern machine.
