The Netgear ReadyNAS RN212 sticks with SATA — vintage, but functional

The RN212 supports 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SATA drives with no NVMe support. For a NAS of its vintage, that’s completely expected — NVMe caching wasn’t a thing when this unit was designed. It does the job for basic network storage.
