Reduce the flow to keep your pool cleaner on the floor.

Too much flow is the most common reason. Your automatic cleaner is basically a small vacuum that uses water pressure to move. Crank the pump too high, and it gets enough suction to climb the walls like Spiderman on espresso.

Find the valve on your return line (the one feeding the cleaner) and dial it back. You’re looking for a gentle crawl across the floor, not a drag race. If your cleaner has a flow restrictor plate—some models ship with one you can install—use it.

Check the manual for your specific model’s recommended flow rate. But in general: if it’s climbing, turn the valve down a quarter turn at a time until it stays on the floor.
