Replace your swimsuit every year, unless you swim a lot.

Yearly, but adjust for use.

If you swim a few times a summer, a good suit can last two or three years. If you’re in the pool weekly or hitting the beach every weekend, expect to replace it every six months. The elastic in swimwear breaks down from chlorine, salt, and sun exposure. Once the fabric starts stretching out or the color fades, it’s done.

A suit that’s lost its shape doesn’t hold you in right, and it’s more likely to sag or ride up. That’s not about looks — it’s about comfort and not having to adjust constantly.

You’ll know it’s time when the elastic feels loose or the fabric looks pilled. Donate the old one if it’s still decent, or toss it.

A saggy suit is a pain, not a fashion statement.
