Rigid bento boxes are the answer.

If you want fruit to survive the trip to school or work, you need a lunch box with hard walls between the compartments, not a soft divider or a baggie loose in a lunch bag.

The two best options are PlanetBox and Bentgo.

PlanetBox is the indestructible choice. Stainless steel, fixed compartments, nothing shifts and nothing crushes. It survives kids who throw their bags around and lasts for years. Downside: it’s heavy and not cheap.

Bentgo is the budget-friendly plastic option. Rigid walls separate the compartments, the lids seal well, and they’re easy to clean. The Bentgo Kids is a great size for school lunches; the classic Bentgo works for adults too. Just avoid super tall items—the lid needs to close.

Skip soft lunch bags with “compartments” that are really just elastic straps. Get a hard-sided bento box and your strawberries will stop arriving as jam.
