Rolling Beats Folding for Pool Floats

The best way to deflate and fold a pool float is to open the valve, press out the bulk, then roll it tightly from the closed end to force out the remaining air. Folding leaves trapped air pockets and creases that wear out the seams; rolling gives you a flat, compact package that actually stays small.

Start with the float fully dry and the valve wide open. Lay it flat, press down with your knees or hands to push out the first rush of air, then fold the float in half lengthwise so the two valves are on top of each other. Begin rolling from the bottom, not the side. Roll slowly and firmly, using your thighs to keep pressure on the tube as you go.
