Rolling Stones Inducted into Rock Hall in 1989—First Active Band to Get the Nod

The Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989, at the fourth ceremony. That made them the first band to be enshrined while still actively touring and recording at the peak of their fame—earlier inductees like Chuck Berry and Little Richard were older or semi-retired. It also marked the first time the Hall honored an entire lineup, including former members Brian Jones and Mick Taylor.
