Rolling Stones' No Filter Tour: The Stade de France Tribute to Paris Attack Victims

The Stones were playing Stade de France on October 19, 2017, as part of the No Filter tour — their first show in Paris since the November 2015 attacks that hit the Bataclan and other sites during a Eagles of Death Metal concert. Before launching into a cover of the Beatles’ “Come Together,” Mick Jagger addressed the crowd, saying “We want to dedicate this to everyone who lost their lives in the attacks two years ago.” The band then played a slow, drawn-out version of the song, and after finishing, the stadium went silent for a full minute.

That moment of silence was particularly heavy because the Stade de France itself was a target that night — suicide bombers detonated outside during a France-Germany soccer match. The Stones’ setlist also included “Dead Flowers” and “Miss You,” but the tribute was the emotional peak. Jagger didn’t overdo it, just let the song and the silence do the work.
