Rotomolded coolers are overkill for tailgating seats.

Probably not worth the weight and cost.

You want a cooler that doubles as a seat or a table. The key feature is a flat, reinforced lid that can hold a person without collapsing. You don’t need a Yeti or RTIC for that — those are built for bear-proofing and days of ice retention. For a five-hour tailgate, a good mid-range cooler works fine.

The Coleman Xtreme or Igloo MaxCold series is what I’d grab. They have sturdy enough lids, wheels on larger models, and cost a fraction of the rotomolded stuff. The lid will hold a normal adult just fine. If you’re regularly parking 300 pounds on it, sure, look at a rotomolded one — but then you’re hauling a 40-pound empty box around the parking lot.

Don’t overthink it.
