Rough mousepads help with honeycomb mice.

Yes, usually. Lightweight honeycomb mice are often slick plastic—less mass means less natural friction against your pad. A rough surface adds grip so you don’t overshoot or feel like the mouse is skating on ice.

The catch: not all rough pads are good. Some hard “speed” pads with aggressive texture can actually shred PTFE mouse feet. You want a cloth pad with a woven texture (like a Cordura or a tight-weave control pad), not sandpaper. Something like an Artisan Hien (medium) or a LGG Saturn gives you bite without eating your skates.

If you play twitchy FPS games, the extra control is worth it. If you prefer gliding, you’ll hate it. But for a honeycomb mouse, a bit of texture is a solid upgrade.
