Rough mousepads will eat your mouse feet.
Yes. A surface that rough acts like sandpaper on PTFE (Teflon) mouse feet. You’ll notice the glide getting scratchy within weeks, and your feet might look cloudy or worn in a month.
The whole point of a mousepad is to give a consistent, low-friction surface. A ceramic-tile imitation goes hard in the opposite direction: it’s abrasive by design. It might look cool and feel novel, but you’re trading durability for aesthetics.
If you really want a hard, fast surface, get a proper hard pad made from glass or a smooth plastic composite. Those still wear feet over time, but not like sanding them down on purpose.
Your mouse feet aren’t replaceable on every model, so that “cool” pad could end up costing you a new mouse.
