Rubber shelf liner is the lunch box anti-slide fix.

A piece of cheap non-slip drawer liner under the lunch box fixes the problem for about three bucks.

That’s the same rubbery mesh stuff you line kitchen drawers with. Cut it to fit the seat, the floorboard, or the truck console, and your lunch box stays put through hard turns and bumpy gravel roads. It also works under a cooler, a tool bag, or your phone if you hate sticky dashboard mounts.

You might be tempted to buy a fancy “car lunch box holder” or some suction-cup thing. Don’t. A cloth seat already grips reasonably well — the slide happens on leather, vinyl, or a flat plastic truck bench. The liner creates friction on those surfaces without leaving a sticky residue or scratching anything.

If you’d rather not bring a sheet of liner into your life, the other practical move is a bungee cord wrapped around the headrest or the seat rail. But that only helps if your lunch box has a handle or loop, and it gets fiddly. The liner just sits there and does its job.

No need to overthink this one. A dollar-store drawer liner does more than any gadget marketed specifically for this.
