Rubbermaid Brilliance is the leak-proof winner

Rubbermaid Brilliance containers have the most genuinely leak-proof seal I’ve found for yogurt or sauce. Those four latches aren’t just for show — they press a thick silicone gasket tight against the rim, and it stays shut even upside down in a bag.

The Sistema clip-lock stuff is close, but I’ve had a few leak once the clips get worn or if you don’t get every latch fully clicked. Brilliance’s latches are more forgiving, and the clear plastic makes it easy to see if the seal is clean before closing. They also come in smaller sizes, which is exactly what you want for a single serving of yogurt or a little container of dressing.

If you’re willing to go glass, the Pyrex Simply Store has a similar four-latch design and is just as leak-proof, but it’s heavier. For a kid’s lunchbox or your own backpack, plastic Brilliance is the smarter pick.

One tip, whatever you buy: leave a little headroom in the container and don’t overfill. A perfectly sealed lid doesn’t help if the pressure of a full container forces liquid into the rim.
