Saltwater pools are better, but not for the reason you think.
Yes, they’re nicer — but they still have chlorine. A saltwater pool uses a generator to turn salt into chlorine, so you get the same sanitizer, just produced automatically. The water feels softer on your skin and eyes because there’s less of that harsh chemical spike you get with manual chlorine dosing.
But the big benefit is convenience. You’re not buying, storing, and shocking with buckets of tablets. Set the generator, keep salt levels right, and it mostly runs itself. Upfront cost is higher (the generator and installation), and you’ll replace the cell every 3–5 years for a few hundred bucks. If you hate pool maintenance, it’s worth it.
Do not think it’s “chemical free.” It’s just chemical management on autopilot.
