As for freshness, the real factors are the lid seal and how quickly food goes into the fridge. Light can theoretically break down a few nutrients like vitamin A or riboflavin, and it can fade colors over time, but in practice — a few hours in your bag or a day or two in the fridge — you won’t notice any difference. If you’re storing something you won’t eat for a week, an opaque container is slightly more protective. For everyday lunches, transparent is fine.
