Sensor cleaning fixes most bumping problems.

Yes, that repeated bumping is almost always a dirty sensor or a low battery, not a hardware failure.

Robot vacuums decide how close to get to furniture using IR or LIDAR sensors. If those sensors are dusty, the signal bounces incorrectly or not at all. Clean the bumper sensors (usually little round or rectangular windows on the front and sides) with a dry microfiber cloth. Also wipe the cliff sensors on the bottom—those prevent falls but also affect navigation. While you’re at it, check the wheels and side brush for hair tangles that can mess with momentum.

A dying battery can also cause erratic behavior because the robot loses power mid-mission and drags instead of rolling. If cleaning doesn’t help, try a fresh fully charged battery.

Don’t buy a new one until you’ve wiped the sensors and charged it full.
