Separate the dressing, not the lettuce

No lunch box keeps salad crisp on its own, but the Bentgo Salad does the best job of keeping dressing away from your greens — and that’s the whole game.

Soggy salad is a moisture problem. Two culprits: wet greens and dressing. Most containers only address one. The Bentgo Salad has a sealed dressing cup, an ice pack in the lid, and a separate tray for toppings. It costs around $30 and it works.

If you don’t want to spend that, a wide-mouth mason jar does 90% of the job. Layer it right: dressing on the bottom, then hard veggies, then greens on top. Nothing touches the dressing until you dump it out at lunch. Cheap, leak-proof, and glass keeps things cold longer than plastic.

One thing no container fixes: if you pack damp greens, they’ll be sad by noon. Spin them dry or pat them with a paper towel. That matters more than the box.

Buy the Bentgo if you want it easy, use a jar if you want it cheap — but dry your greens either way.
