Swimsuits are sized for a “standard” body that likely no longer matches yours. After weight loss, your top and bottom sizes can be wildly different. After surgery (especially breast surgery), a one-piece that fits in the chest will bag everywhere else. Separates solve this. You buy a top in one size and bottoms in another. That’s the only way to get both halves right.
Look for bra-sized swim tops if you had chest surgery or need real support. They use actual band and cup sizes, not S/M/L. On the bottom, high-waisted or full-coverage cuts are comfortable and hide any loose skin or scarring without being frumpy. Skip anything with a built-in shelf bra — they never work after significant body change.
You’re not the same person, so don’t try to squeeze into the same suit. Mix and match until it actually fits.
