Silicone cupcake liners are the best lunch box dividers you'll ever use

Silicone cupcake liners are the easiest lunch box dividers you can make, and you probably already own them.

They work because they’re flexible. You can squish them into any shape, they pop right into a standard lunch box, and they hold everything from grapes to crackers without mixing. Just set the liner down, fill it, and you’ve got a built-in compartment. When lunch is over, rinse it and reuse it — they last basically forever.

Small plastic containers work almost as well. Any Tupperware or deli tub you already have can act as a divider. The trick is choosing containers that are roughly the height of your lunch box, so they sit flush and stuff doesn’t climb over the top. The container does double duty: it separates food while you carry it, and it doubles as a bowl when it’s time to eat.

The only thing you actually need is a container that’s the right height and a lid that closes. Everything else is just organization theater. Bento boxes are nice, but they’re $20 for something a muffin tin liner does for free.
