Skip racerbacks if you have broad shoulders.

They emphasize width. You want a swimsuit that draws the eye in, not out.

The trick is to break up the shoulder line. V-necks, scoop necks, and halters (with wide enough straps) do this nicely. One-shoulder styles also work — the asymmetry distracts from the width. Avoid high-neck halter tops that tie behind the neck; those can look like a triangle on your torso.

Wider straps are your friend. Thin spaghetti straps can dig in and make shoulders look bigger by contrast. A bandeau can work if it has structure or ruffles, but plain strapless tends to be a gamble.

If you’re shopping online, look for the words “V-neck,” “wrap,” or “asymmetric.” Try them on in front of a mirror with a critical eye — and move around. A good fit won’t shift or pinch.

Your shoulders aren’t a problem to solve. Just pick a silhouette that feels balanced.
