Skip the abrasive cleaners on enameled cast iron

No.

Bar Keepers Friend and other abrasive cleaners will scratch and dull the enamel over time. Enamel is glass, and glass scratches — even the “soft” abrasives in BKF are harder than the enamel’s surface. You might not notice after one use, but repeated scrubbing wears down the shiny finish, leaves micro-scratches that trap stains, and eventually makes the surface look hazy.

The safe move: soak with hot water and baking soda, use a plastic scraper for stuck bits, or boil water in the pan to loosen gunk. If you need more power, try a non-scratch scrub like the Scotch-Brite Gentle Scrub pad (blue ones, not green). For stubborn residue, a paste of baking soda and water works better than abrasive powders.

That glossy enamel is the whole point of the pan — don’t grind it away.
