Skip the all-in-one lunch box. Get a separate hard case.
The best way to carry an inhaler or allergy med in a child’s lunch is a separate hard-sided medication case inside a regular lunch box.
I haven’t found a lunch box with a dedicated hard-sided med compartment that’s actually worth buying. The few that exist are usually flimsy, awkwardly shaped, or eat up way too much of the lunch space. And the ones you’d trust to protect an inhaler are basically small plastic boxes — but then you’re stuck with a lunch bag that doesn’t work well for anything else.
So skip the hybrid. Buy a small, crush-proof case made for an inhaler (or a rigid glasses case if it fits — same idea). They’re cheap, common at pharmacies, and actually protect the med from the usual lunchbox chaos. Then pick any lunch box that has enough room for the case next to the food. A simple hard-sided lunchbox with a wide-open main compartment works best, but even a soft-sided one is fine as long as the kid isn’t cracking the case by sitting on it.
The hard part isn’t the lunch box. It’s making sure your child knows to leave it in the lunch box and not lose it. Write their name on both. That’s the real battle.
Future You won’t be hunting for a custom lunch box at 10 pm.
