Skip the asymmetrical mousepad if you're left-handed.

Yes. Get an ambidextrous (symmetrical) pad. Asymmetrical pads are designed for right-handed users—the cutout for the wrist, the angled edge, the extended surface on the right side—none of that works for a lefty.

Most “gaming” or “ergonomic” mousepads with a wrist rest are molded for a right hand. You’ll either have no rest at all or the rest will be on the wrong side, forcing your wrist into a weird angle. An ambidextrous pad is just a rectangle or circle. No bias. It does one job: gives you a consistent surface.

The only thing to consider beyond shape is size and fabric. But shape is the dealbreaker. Don’t try to make an asymmetrical pad work. Your wrist will hate you.
