Skip the crowded rail at Prospect Point.
Yes, there are quieter spots right inside the park with great views of the American Falls.
Most people cram onto the main observation deck at Prospect Point, which is a zoo. Instead, walk to Luna Island. It’s the small piece of land between the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. You get a front-row, mist-in-your-face view, and most tourists never make the left turn off the main walkway.
Another good option: the path just north of the Cave of the Winds entrance pavilion. There’s a stone ledge there that looks straight up at the falls. It’s usually empty because everyone is lining up for the elevator.
If you go after 4 p.m., the tour buses clear out and you can have Luna Island almost to yourself.
