Skip the plastic bags. Get a bento box.

The best way to pack multiple small snacks is a bento-style container with a few compartments—not a bunch of single-use plastic bags. Bento boxes are cheap, durable, and they end the whole “12 little baggies in your lunch bag” situation forever.

As for compartment configurations, don’t overthink it. You want one larger section for the bulk stuff (crackers, nuts, pretzels) and two or three smaller ones for fruit or anything that could roll around. Fixed plastic dividers are fine if they’re deep enough, but I prefer boxes with removable dividers. That way you can change the layout based on what you’re packing that day.

Fruit is the only real challenge because it’s wet and can make crackers soggy. The fix isn’t more compartments—it’s a small leakproof container you can drop inside the box. Silicone cups with lids or tiny stainless steel containers work great. Pack the fruit in one of those, and you’re golden.

One caution: avoid boxes with a dozen tiny sections. They’re a pain to clean, and they never hold what you actually want to eat. You’re not assembling a sushi platter; you’re packing snacks.

Future you won’t have to fish a rogue cracker out of a bag.
