Slow, deep tremolo—that's the trick.
Yes. Set your tremolo pedal to a slow rate and high depth.
The intro to Love, Try Not to Let Go is pure tremolo—not vibrato, not phaser. You want the volume to pulse like a lazy wave. Start with the rate around 1–2 Hz (that’s one or two pulses per second) and the depth cranked to 80–100%. Then adjust by ear. It should sound like the guitar is breathing.
Most amp tremolos can do this too. If yours doesn’t go slow enough, get a pedal. The Fender ‘63 Reverb Tremolo or a cheap Danelectro Tremolo will get you there.
One thing: play with the attack. Julia Jacklin’s version has a soft, almost lazy start to each note—light pick attack, let the tremolo do the work.
That’s it. Set it, forget it, play the riff.
