Soapy water finds pool float leaks in seconds

The proper way to test a pool float for leaks is to inflate it fully, spray it with a soapy water solution, and watch for bubbles forming at the hole.

Mix a squirt of dish soap into a spray bottle of water — roughly 1 part soap to 3 parts water. Shake it gently so it mixes. Inflate the float so it’s firm, then spray the whole surface, paying special attention to seams, valves, and corners where punctures usually happen.

The leak will show itself as a trail of tiny bubbles or a small cluster that keeps growing while everything else just sits there. If you’re dealing with a slow leak, give it a minute and look again. When you find it, mark the spot with a piece of tape or chalk so you don’t lose it while drying and patching.
