Soup belongs in a thermos, not a Tupperware
The best leak-proof lunch container for soup or yogurt is a wide-mouth, vacuum-insulated jar like the Thermos or Hydro Flask.
Those flat clip-lid containers might pass the “tip it over” test at home, but they’re not reliable in a backpack or tote. Pressure changes, jostling, and a slightly misaligned gasket will eventually betray you. A screw-top thermos has a much more forgiving seal — it’s literally designed to hold liquids upright and upside down.
You also get a bonus: hot soup stays hot, cold yogurt stays cold. That’s worth something if your lunch sits in a bag for a few hours before you eat it.
If you absolutely need to microwave your soup at work, go with a glass container with a clamp-on lid like Glasslock — but know that it’s more “very resistant to leaking” than “drop it in your bag and forget it.” For actual leak-proof, the thermos wins every time.
Your backpack will thank you.
