SPF 30 is enough for daily face use.
SPF 30. That’s the number to look for on a daily face sunscreen under makeup.
Anything higher — SPF 50, 70, 100 — gives you marginally more UVB protection (like 98% vs 97%). The real problem is that most people don’t apply enough, and they never reapply. A higher number doesn’t fix that. It just makes the formula thicker, stickier, and more likely to pill under makeup.
For daily commutes and office life, SPF 30 in a moisturizer or primer is the sweet spot. It’s protective enough, it layers well, and you’ll actually wear it every day. Save the heavy-duty zinc for beach days or hiking.
The most important thing isn’t the number. It’s that you wear it.
