Spot-clean that lunch box—don't soak it.

Spot-cleaning with a mild detergent is the way to go for a lunch box with a non-removable fabric lining. You can’t just toss the whole thing in the sink or washer, because soaking will make the lining peel away from the walls and invite mildew to set up shop.

Start by shaking out every crumb, then mix a few drops of dish soap into a bowl of warm water. Dip a soft cloth or an old toothbrush in that, wring it out well, and scrub the stained spots gently. Wipe with a clean damp cloth afterward. For stuck-on stuff, make a paste of baking soda and water, rub it in, let it sit for 15 minutes, then wipe off.

If it smells funky, sprinkle a layer of baking soda inside, close it, and let it sit overnight. Vacuum it out in the morning. Stubborn greasy stains might need a splash of white vinegar in your soapy water, but test on a hidden spot first.

The big rule: dry it completely. Prop the lid open and let it air out for a day before storing it. And next time, use a reusable pouch or wrap—you’ll cut down on the scrubbing by a lot.
