Spray, let it sit, rinse hard

Spray the compartments with dish soap and water, let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse with a strong stream from the sink. That gets 90% of crud out without you contorting your hand into a non-removable corner.

The trick is giving the soap time to break down the food film. If you spray and immediately rinse, you’re just moving grease around. Let it dwell while you clean the rest of the kitchen. Then hit the corners with the sprayer or a running faucet—the water pressure does the scrubbing for you.

For dried-on stuff, do the same but use hot water and maybe a splash of white vinegar in the spray bottle. Still stuck? A soft toothbrush or a bottle brush with a bendable neck will reach the edges. Avoid abrasive scrubbers; they scratch the plastic and give bacteria more places to hide.

Dry it upside down on the rack. That’s it. No soaking the whole box like a weirdo.

Future you will appreciate not eating what’s left of last Tuesday’s yogurt.
