Steel beats everything.

Steel lunch boxes are the only ones that survive real life. Get a stainless steel bento like PlanetBox, or an old-school metal lunch box if you want that indestructible feel.

Plastic always breaks. Hinges crack, latches snap, and the whole thing starts looking like it was run over by week two.
