Stick with glass.

Ceramic mousepads sound cool — hard, durable, unique feel — but in practice, glass still wins for most people.

Glass is proven. It’s smooth, consistent, and easy to clean. Swipe your mouse, it glides the same every time. Spill a drink? Wipe it off. No problem. Glass pads like the Skypad have been around for years and gamers love them.

Ceramic is newer and more niche. It’s usually more expensive per square inch. The surface can be slightly porous depending on the glaze, which means dust and skin oils build up faster. Cleaning isn’t as simple — you have to be more careful. And the glide? Sometimes it’s too fast, sometimes it’s scratchy. Consistency between brands is all over the place.

If you’re the type to obsess over mouse feet and pad texture and want to experiment, sure, try ceramic. But if you just want a reliable, fast, easy-to-maintain hard pad, glass is the answer.

Don’t let the novelty sell you.
