Stick with PTFE on smooth hard pads.
Yes, the difference is noticeable. Smooth hard pads give you consistent glide with PTFE feet—low friction, predictable. Textured hard pads introduce variability: the surface pattern catches PTFE slightly, making micro-adjustments feel inconsistent.
Ceramic feet are harder and less affected by texture, but they also have higher initial friction and can feel scratchy on textured surfaces. They were designed for glass pads, where PTFE would wear out fast. On a textured hard pad, ceramic feet just amplify the inconsistency—more chatter, less control.
If you want reliable glide, smooth hard pad + PTFE feet is the combo that works. Textured pads are for cloth-pad people who want a hybrid feel, but they don’t deliver the same consistency with either foot material.
Save the ceramic feet for a glass pad. That’s where they actually shine.
