Stitched edge mousepads are worth the extra few bucks.

The raw-cut ones fray and curl over time. Stitched edges prevent that, and they also feel nicer on your wrist. If you use your mousepad daily, the minor price difference pays for itself in longevity and comfort.

Raw-cut mousepads are just cloth cut to shape. They’re cheaper, but after a few months the edges start peeling, collecting dust, and becoming a little ragged. The stitched edge keeps everything tight and flat. It also eliminates that sharp, harsh line that can dig into your forearm during long sessions.

The only downside to stitched edges is that the stitching can sometimes be a bit rough or thick on cheaper pads. But even budget stitched pads from brands like HyperX or Corsair do a better job than a raw-cut pad that’s fraying within a year.

So if you’re buying a mousepad and plan to keep it for a while, skip the raw cut. The stitched edge is the move.
